The Royal Wedding and King's Cross

Well today was the big day! The royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. Like I said before, there was a group of people from my program that camped out last night at Buckingham Palace, and they had some very interesting stories to tell when they came back of people they met in the crowd. I'm sure it would have been really cool to be out on the street and see all the cars go by, as well as the couple kiss on the balcony, but I opted to stay home and watch the ceremony on the tele where I would have a better view. Even though I wasn't outside in the middle of it all, it was really cool to realize that I easily could be if I wanted to, and to hear the bells of churches around the entire city ringing when the ceremony was over. Just so you guys know, the google image is not correct: there were soooo many more people out on the streets than that picture suggests!! It was absolutely insane!!

I kind of sat around the flat for a while after that, doing homework and chatting with everyone who wasn't sleeping after last night ;p Four of us then decided to go to Wagamama's, a noodle house, because it's been highly recommended to all of us. I ordered their miso ramen soup which was basically hot and sour soup with lots of noodles and chicken (kind of a cross between hot and sour and pho...). It was delicious, but I don't know if I'll be eating there again; it was more expensive then I would have liked.

Then the four of us (me, Preston, Andrea, and Amberly) decided we weren't quite ready to go home, so we jumped on a bus. It wasn't until we were on the bus that we decided to go to King's Cross and find Platform 9 3/4!! The route we'd taken ended there, so we sat on the top of a double decker just surveying London as we talked about our love of Harry Potter (and how excited we are to go to Edinborough in a few weeks!).

When we got there, we discovered that for some odd reason they don't have the platform in between platforms 9 and 10, which is where it should be, but next to platform 8. Also, they were doing remodeling, so while it's normally actually the brick wall of the station, they had put up a fake brick wall in the remodeling area. It wasn't as cool as it should have been or normally is, but we decided to come back later while we're here and see if they've finished working and restored it to all it's glory. It was still fun to take pictures though! (We took a picture of the four of us, and I'll post that one later)
