Starting the countdown!

In twelve days, I will be in the United Kingdom, starting my six week long London Theatre study abroad! I am so excited for this opportunity and can't wait to get over there! I am creating this blog to have an easy way to share with my family and friends my adventures and discoveries while I am there, and soon it will be filled with posts and pictures!

As a group, we will be seeing about fifteen plays (yes, that's almost two a week), including seeing "Much Ado About Nothing" and "Hamlet" as groundlings as Shakespeare's Globe Theatre!

I cannot describe my excitement! I have always had a great appreciation for Shakespeare, but that appreciation is turning into a love even now. We're also going to be seeing "Macbeth" in Stratford, and "The Tempest" and "All's Well That Ends Well" at other theatres. There's a chance that we might even get to see David Tennant play Benedict in "Much Ado" (crosses fingers!)

But that's not all I will be doing. As you guys know, I am a huge musical theatre fan, and can't wait to explore London's West End! (the equivilent of Broadway in New York) If all goes as planned, I will be seeing "Wicked", "Les Mis", "Legally Blonde", and "Shrek", and those are just the ones that I'm determined to see! Students get special discounts, so hopefully I can see even more than that!

We'll also have time to travel in groups, and I am dying to go to the Orkney Islands in Scotland!

That's an actual picture of Marwick head, just one of the many gorgeous cliff formations throughout the isles! Not only is this an absolutely gorgeous and picturesque part of the world, but it's the area I'm using to create the world for the books I'm writing. I can't wait to get up there and be inspired!

There are so many more things I want to do while I'm in the UK, and I can't wait to have the chance to learn and explore! So here's my question for you: if you could spend a day anywhere in the UK, where would you go and what would you do?

Twelve days!

  1. Beautiful pictures! I love that you know so much about what you're going to be doing and seeing there. You'll have a great experience because you're prepared.

If it were me, I'd want to see castles! And the Jane Austen sights and the Harry Potter sights. And visit my friend/critique partner who lives there. It would be nonstop hiking and visiting.

    Enjoy!

  3. I am so jealous of you. GAH I want to go to England. I will do this when I get back from my mission. That is not a question, but a set plan. Nothing will stop me.
